China’s Rocket Academy has developed a new generation of high-strength aluminum alloy fasteners, The world’s first 600MPa level

According to the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the overall design department of the Rocket Academy has recently developed a new generation of high-strength aluminum alloy fasteners for aerospace, which are lightweight, high-strength, and highly reliable, and can promote the comprehensive upgrading and upgrading of aerospace fastener products.

Lu Hongli, Deputy Director of the Fastener Room of the Overall Design Department of the Rocket Academy, introduced that this series of fasteners is the world’s first high-strength aluminum alloy fastener product with a strength level of 600MPa. Its technical level is internationally leading, and it can comprehensively replace carbon steel fasteners used for the installation and connection of instrument supports. It has a lighter self weight and a weight reduction effect of over 60%, significantly improving the lightweight level of fasteners and achieving the “single champion” of aerospace fastener products.

There are hundreds of thousands of fasteners on a rocket, and the research and application of the new generation of high-strength aluminum alloy fasteners is of great significance for supporting the lightweight development of aerospace models.

Shi Yuhong, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Overall Design Department, introduced that high strength is not the end point of fastener development. We want it to be both strong and tough. In addition to optimizing the structural design, the team has also established comprehensive mechanical performance indicators for fasteners such as tensile strength, yield strength, reduction of area, elongation, and impact toughness, and specified the upper and lower limits of fastener tensile strength, improving the toughness of the new generation of high-strength aluminum alloy fasteners.

At present, the new generation of fastener products have been applied in aerospace models and have formed product standards and product systems, accumulating strength for China’s independent innovation and technological leadership in aerospace fasteners. Next, the Rocket Academy will also explore intelligent and information-based fasteners, further improving the performance of China’s basic electromechanical products represented by fasteners.

The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (referred to as “Aerospace First Academy”) was established on November 16, 1957, and is the largest research, design, trial production, testing, and production base for missile weapons and launch vehicles in China. It is the birthplace of China’s aerospace industry. The first dean was Qian Xuesen.
