The Second Annual Meeting of the 7th National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee was Successfully Held

On November 2-3, 2023, the second annual meeting of the 7th National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee was held in Quzhou, Zhejiang. This grand event brought together nearly 250 representatives of fastener enterprises, research institutes, universities, quality inspection institutions, and industry experts from all over the country, and held a two-day exchange on fastener standardization work. Leaders of the Qujiang District People’s Government attended the opening event.

At the opening ceremony, Jiang Yunfeng, Chairman of Zhejiang Haili Co., Ltd., and Tan Xiangning, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Machinery Industry Federation, delivered speeches to the conference. Minister Chai Shenghui, on behalf of the Qujiang District Committee and Government, congratulated on the convening of the conference and introduced the industrial advantages of Qujiang District; Director Jiang Yunfeng, as the host of this meeting, welcomed the attendance of all representatives and introduced the development history, current situation, and vision of Zhejiang Haili Co., Ltd; Tan Xiangning, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation, affirmed the achievements of standardization work in the field of fasteners and requested that we strengthen our sense of responsibility, compliance, and learning in the process of carrying out standardization work.

The conference invited Deputy Chief Engineer Tan Xiangning to give a themed report titled “New Situation, New Progress, New Requirements – Current Situation and Development of Mechanical Industry Standardization”. He discussed the situation faced by standardization, standardization technical committee, standard formulation and revision management, standardization work progress, and standardization development prospects from five aspects. He gave a vivid specialized training course on standardization knowledge and requirements to the attending representatives, The role of establishing standards and standardized concepts, establishing a sense of responsibility, and understanding relevant standardization policies and requirements for participating members is significant.

Chairman Ding Baoping of the National Fastener Standardization Technical Committee presented a work report for the year 2022, 2023, and reported on the ISO/TC 2 international conference held in Japan from October 16th to 20th, as well as the work of China leading the revision of international standards for fasteners.

The meeting reviewed and approved three national standards for review, including GB/T 10433 “Studs and Porcelain Rings for Arc Stud Welding of Fasteners”, GB/T 1231 “High Strength Large Hexagonal Head Bolt Connection Pairs for Steel Structures”, and GB/T 5267.5 “Technical Specification for Thermal Diffusion Zinc Coating of Fasteners”. The review resolution was formed, and the working group was required to modify and improve the submitted draft as soon as possible. The meeting reviewed and approved the plan for the development and revision of fastener standards to be applied for and approved in 2024, as well as the adjustment plan for committee members. And discussed the optimization work plan for the standard system in the field of fasteners, confirmed the existing standard system table, and clarified the direction and path of standard system optimization.

The meeting invited Shao Chenxi from China Academy of Mechanical Science to present a report on “Research on Fatigue Life Prediction Methods for Large Specification Bolts in Ships”, sharing practical cases of fatigue life assessment methods and processes for large specification high-strength bolts used in marine environments; Invite Jin Cheng from Chongqing Chang’an Automobile Co., Ltd. to present a report on the “Analysis of the Research Topic on Carbon Emissions of Fasteners under the Dual Carbon Policy”, and propose suggestions for the next steps of China’s fastener carbon emissions research based on the current carbon background, domestic and foreign policies, relevant regulations, and standard trends.

The conference successfully completed various agendas and achieved a complete success. The attending representatives and the Secretariat of the National Tight Standards Committee expressed sincere gratitude to the organizer Zhejiang Haili Co., Ltd. for their strong support and thoughtful service to the conference.
